Our Story
At 3thirtynine, we believe that the best moments in life are created over good food, great drinks, and a shared glass of wine.
Our owner has always cherished the simple pleasures—laughing over a meal, toasting to life’s milestones, and forming meaningful connections through shared experiences.
This deep appreciation for togetherness is rooted in the philosophy of “以酒会友 (yǐ jiǔ huì yǒu),” a Chinese saying that speaks to the beauty of bonding over wine and good company. Inspired by this belief, 3thirtynine was created as a place where people can come together, unwind, and truly enjoy each other’s presence.
With this vision at heart, 3thirtynine was designed to be more than just a bistro—it’s a space where conversations flow as effortlessly as the wine, where every meal becomes a memory, and where guests feel at home from the moment they step in.
Our goal is to create an inviting and comfortable atmosphere, where everyone feels good, connected, and part of something special. Whether you're here for an intimate dinner, a lively gathering, or simply to experience the joy of sharing food and drinks, 3thirtynine embodies the spirit of “以酒会友”—bringing people together, one toast at a time.

ABOUT OUR CHEFS
Chef Alex, born in 1982 in Xiamen, China, grew up understanding the importance of acquiring practical skills for employment. Choosing the culinary path for its accessibility and financial promise, he underwent rigorous training in Chinese cuisine, mastering precision knife skills and building strength through traditional techniques. His early years were spent in a demanding apprenticeship at a traditional Chinese restaurant, where he endured long hours of labor-intensive work before even being allowed to approach the stove. Seeking broader opportunities, he took a job at Tutto Bene Restaurant and Bar, an Italian restaurant where he not only discovered his passion for Italian cuisine but also learned English and honed his hospitality skills. His dedication led him to further his culinary career in Shanghai before making a move to Singapore.
Over the past two decades, Chef Alex has cultivated a diverse and refined culinary expertise, working in some of Singapore’s most prestigious establishments. He sharpened his skills in modern European cuisine at The Line (Shangri-La Singapore), Blu, and Au Jardin, Les Amis, training under esteemed chefs like Galvin Lim. His career continued to flourish at DB Bistro by Daniel Boulud, where he developed precision, consistency, and leadership in a high-paced kitchen. He later became Sous Chef at Bar-Roque Grill and Head Chef at Marco Pierre White’s English House, further expanding his mastery of European cuisine. Now, bringing his wealth of experience and passion for flavors to 3thirtynine, Chef Alex curates a distinctive French fusion menu, blending classical European techniques with bold Asian influences to create a unique and memorable dining experience.
